At Power Up USA, our mission is to foster digital equity, creativity, and community engagement. We aim to inspire, educate, and empower individuals from underserved communities by providing access to technology, creative platforms, and innovative opportunities that promote social change.

Signature Events and Initiatives

1. Charlotte Black Film Festival (CBFF)

As a premier annual event, the Charlotte Black Film Festival celebrates Black culture, talent, and stories through the lens of film and media. CBFF is a platform for emerging filmmakers, content creators, and storytellers to showcase their work, engage with audiences, and connect with industry professionals. The festival highlights films that reflect the Black experience while fostering creative and career development in the film industry.

Screenings & Showcases: A diverse range of films, from short films to documentaries and features, spotlighting Black voices.Workshops & Panels: Insightful discussions and skill-building workshops focused on film production, storytelling, and digital media.Networking Opportunities: Bringing filmmakers, artists, and the community together to celebrate and advance Black cinema.

2. Queen City Arts Fest

The Queen City Arts Fest is a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and creativity, bringing together artists, performers, and artisans from diverse backgrounds. This annual event features live performances, visual art exhibits, interactive installations, and workshops, making it a hub for cultural exchange and artistic innovation in Charlotte. Visual Arts & Exhibits: Showcasing the work of emerging and established artists in the Charlotte region.Performing Arts: A dynamic lineup of live music, dance, theater, and spoken word performances.Community Engagement: Hands-on workshops and activities that invite attendees to explore their own creativity.

3. Carolina Black Film Collective (CBFC)

The Carolina Black Film Collective is a network of Black filmmakers, content creators, and digital artists across the Carolinas. CBFC supports the development and visibility of Black talent in the film and media industries through collaborative projects, training programs, and professional development opportunities. This collective serves as a creative hub for film professionals and aspiring artists to connect, create, and thrive.

Collaborative Projects: Providing members with opportunities to collaborate on film and media projects.Training & Development: Offering hands-on workshops and mentorship to help members hone their craft and succeed in the industry.Networking & Support: A vibrant community of creators working to amplify Black voices in media.


Digital Innovation Programs

Power Up USA Digital Equity Initiatives

In addition to our creative arts programs, Power Up USA is deeply committed to addressing the digital divide through initiatives that make technology accessible to underserved communities.

Device Refurbishing Center: Located at the Innovation Barn, our center refurbishes donated electronics and distributes them to individuals and nonprofits in need, helping bridge the gap in digital access.

Digital Pull-Up Program: A mobile pop-up program that brings device support and digital literacy training to communities, making technology accessible in locations where it's needed most.Youth STEAM Program: Providing youth with hands-on training in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, including innovative programs like our Droning Program.

Center for Digital Churches (CFDG)

The Center for Digital Churches is a division of Power Up USA that certifies local churches as digital hubs. Through this certification, churches gain access to digital tools and training that support their communities, close the digital divide, and foster ongoing engagement. Churches also receive access to the LinkVine Platform, an all-in-one digital solution for managing websites, communication, and community outreach.
